How To Make Keto Fish And Chips

Gluten Free Keto Breaded Fish

This recipe is designed to teach everyone how to make easy keto breaded fish that is great for keto fish and chips

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup oil of choice
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whey protein powder or almond flour
  • 2-3 tsp dry seasonings of choice I use salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and dill weed
  • 2 lbs cod or fish of choice, cut into 4-6 pieces

Instructions

  • Preheat oil in large electric skillet to 375 degrees or in a large stove top skillet over medium heat until warm. Make sure there is enough oil to fill the bottom of the skillet about 1/2 inch deep. Line a large baking sheet with foil and lightly spray the foil with cooking spray
  • In a shallow bowl beat the eggs until they are fully combined. Set aside
  • In another shallow bowl combine the whey protein powder,and the dry seasonings of choice. Use a fork and stir to fully combine all ingredients
  • Place cod pieces one at a time into the beaten eggs and turn to fully coat the fish
  • Place the coated fish into the whey protein powder mixture and turn several times to generously coat the fish
  • Place coated fish into the skillet with the preheated oil. Cook 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden and the internal temperature is about 145 degrees
  • Place cooked fish onto a plate that is lined with paper towels and allow any excess oil to drain off. Serve hot

Notes

This recipe serves about 6 people 1 serving equals 1/6 of the recipe
1 serving contains about 4.3 grams of net carbs if using whey protein powder. If using almond flour the net carbs will be slightly less

Keto Jicama Fries

This recipe is designed to teach everyone how to make keto jicama fries. These make great keto fish and chips

Ingredients

  • 1 small jicama washed and peeled
  • 2 TBS oil of choice
  • 2-3 tsp dry seasonings of choice I use salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with foil and lightly spray the foil with cooking spray.
  • Wash and peel jicama. Cut jicama into long strips about 1/4 inch thick
  • Place jicama in a SINGLE Layer in a microwave safe dish. Cover the jicama with water. Microwave on high for 6 minutes to slightly soften the jicama. Jicama does not get completely soft You may need to do this in two or more batches depending on the size of the jicama
  • Drain the jicama and place in a SINGLE LAYER on prepared baking sheet
  • Drizzle oil over jicama and toss to fully coat the jicama
  • Sprinkle jicama with desired seasonings and toss again to fully coat the jicama with the seasonings
  • Bake at 425 for 15 minutes. Stir and bake 15 minutes more or until golden

5 Minute Keto Tartar Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 TBS lemon juice
  • 1 tsp mustard or mustard substitute: 1/2 tsp ground mustard + 1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp dry cilantro
  • 1 tsp dry dill weed
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until smooth. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator 30 minutes before serving. Store up to a week

This recipe makes about 1 1/3 cups of sauce 1 serving is about 2 TBS of sauce
