Low Carb Sugar Free Sweet And Sour Meatballs
This recipes is designed to teach you how to make low carb sugar free sweet and sour meatballs
Servings 6 people
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1/4 tsp seasoned pepper
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup almond meal or dry low carb bread crumbs
- 1 large room temperature egg
- 1/4 cup milk
Sugar Free Sweet And Sour Sauce
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1 tsp liquid stevia, or desired amount
- 1/8 cup pure maple, or desired amount
- 3/4 cup molasses, or desired amount
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 2 garlic cloves. minced
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup cider vinegar
- 1 TBS Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, optional
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1/4 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with foil and lightly spray with cooking spray
- Place ground beef in a large mixing bowl. Using a wooden spoon chop the meat into small chunks
- Add pepper, salt, and minced onion. Stir to fully combine
- Add Worcestershire sauce, egg and milk. Stir until the meat mixture is slightly creamy
- Add almond meal or breadcrumbs. Stir until the breadcrumbs are fully distributed throughout the mixture
- Scoop meat mixture 1TBS at a time onto the prepared baking sheet. Roll each scoop into a tight ball and bake 10 minutes or until lightly brown
FOR THE SAUCE
- Place all ingredients in a 12 inch skillet. Stir to fully combine ingredients.
- Bring to a low boil Add 1/4 of an onion, finely chopped
- Add 1/2 of a red bell pepper, finely chopped. Stir to fully coat with the sauce
- Add meatballs and stir to fully coat the meatballs. Let simmer on low until heated through
TO SERVE
- Serve meatballs and sauce over low carb pasta, veggie noodles, or quinoa
