Easy Baked Keto Salisbury Steak and Gravy
This recipe is designed to teach everyone how to make easy baked keto Salisbury steak and gravy.
Servings 4 steaks
Ingredients
Mushroom Gravy
- 1/4 cup broth or meat drippings
- 1 TBS coconut flour
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk or milk of choice
- 1/2 tsp xanthan gum or thickener of choice
- 1 1/2 tsp dry seasonings of choice I use dry Italian seasoning
- desired amount of chopped cooked mushrooms or add-ins of choice
Salisbury Steaks
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 large egg
- 1/3 cup fine keto bread crumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Instructions
Gravy
- Place the broth/drippings in a large, preheated skillet over medium heat. Whisk in the coconut flour and milk until smooth and the mixture comes to a low boil. Whisk in the xanthan gum/thickener, dry seasonings, salt and pepper until smooth and comes back to a low boil.
- Make sure the xanthan gum/thickener is fully dissolved. Stir in the mushrooms or add-ins of choice. Reduce the heat tot low. Simmer stirring occassionall for 10 minutes until the gravy has thickened. Turn off the heat and allow the gravy to sit for 5 minutes. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
Steak
- While the gravy is simmering, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Gradually stir together all the of the steak ingredients until fully combined. Divide the meat into 4 portions and flatted into round patties. Place the patties into a 3-quart casserole dish. Pour the desired amount of gravy over the patties.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until the patties are cooked through. Remove from the oven and serve immediately with the sides of choice.
