- Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees. If no air fryer preheat oven to 375 degrees or preheat 1 TBS of oil in a large skillet 
- Thoroughly wash and peel the jicama. Cut jicama into chunks. Place chunks in a single layer in microwave safe 2 qt dish. Pour enough water to fully cover the jicama chunks. Microwave on high 6 minutes to soften the jicama May need to do more than 1 batch 
- Drain the water from the jicama. Place softened jicama chunks into the chute of a food processor with the shredding side up. Do not over fill the chute. Process on high until all the jicama chunks are shredded 
- Pour shredded jicama in a large mixing bowl. Add all the ingredients except the cheese. Stir until fully combine and the seasonings are evenly distributed 
- Gradually fold in the cheese until it is fully combined and evenly distributed. Place mixture in colander and press out any excess liquid 
- Scoop dough out 1 TBS at a time onto a lined baking sheet and form the tots or hash browns into desired shape and size 
- Place tots/hash browns in single layer of air fryer drawer. Air fry at 360 for 7-10 minutes or until golden 
- If baking: bake at 375 for 5-10 minutes or until golden. Turn and bake another 5-10 minutes or until golden on both sides 
- If using stovetop: Place tots/hash browns in single layer in a large skillet. Cook in preheated oil 5-10 minutes. Turn and cook another 5-10 minutes or until golden on both sides. Serve warm with dipping sauce of choice
