Ingredients

Filling

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 32 grams freshly grated parmesan cheese (1/4 cup)
  • 23 grams shredded mozzarella cheese (2 TBS)
  • 1 TBS dry Italian seasoning
  • 1 large egg

Layers

  • 8 oz deli sliced meat I use deli sliced ham
  • 8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese (2 cups)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Season, cook and drain the ground beef according to taste. In a large bowl stir together the cooked ground beef and the marinara sauce until fully combined. Set aside. Stir together the filling ingredients in a medium mixing bowl until fully combined and the cheeses are evenly distributed. Set aside
  • Spread about 1 cup of the meat sauce in a thin layer over the bottom of a 3 quart casserole dish. Cover the sauce with a single layer of the deli meat. Top the meat with half of the ricotta filling. Top the filling with one third of the remaining meat sauce. Top the sauce with a second layer of meat and the remaining ricotta filling.
  • Top the filling with half of the remaining meat sauce. Top the sauce with a third layer of meat and the remaining meat sauce. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce. Cover the dish with foil. Bake in the preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • Remove the lasagna from the oven and remove the foil. Place the uncovered lasagna back into the oven and bake at 350 degrees for another 15 minutes or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Remove the lasagna from the oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
